Fontes Nissae – Sources of the Neisse, published biannually in both print and online form, presents a platform for academic publications focusing on history, art and historical monuments. It is a peer reviewed journal established in 2000. Since 2012, it has been published in the cooperation of eight memory institutions, linked by their region of focus. As a result of the scope of research of these institutions, the territorial horizon of Fontes Nissae reaches beyond the narrowly defined environs of Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou to the wider area of the present-day Liberec Region, and also reaching beyond those as necessitated by the historical context and relevant relationships and bonds.

The publisher of Fontes Nissae is the Technical University of Liberec. Institutions cooperating in terms of both content and design are the Regional Research Library in Liberec, the Municipal Museum of Železný Brod, the Liberec Branch of the National Heritage Institute, the Liberec Regional Gallery, the North Bohemian Museum, the State District Archives Liberec, and the State District Archives Jablonec nad Nisou.

Fontes Nissae systematically maps the historical memory of the region. On the brink of the third decade of the 21st century, it aims to be a modern and academically rigorous periodical of cultural history, meeting international academic standards, while concurrently offering aesthetically pleasing publications accessible for a wider reading public. In a global age, the journal keeps a solidly local center of gravity, mapping the trajectories entering and leaving this hub.  Just as importantly, the periodical has been drawing upon the synergy of memory institutions, connecting them with a positive approach even in areas where these very institutions are open or covert competitors of each other. The rationale behind this is to accumulate and regularly publish the latest results of research with a regional focus, and to do so at at an independent critical platform embedded in specialist experience and an academic context.
